We are an independent media outlet that, through citizen journalism, aims to present the news from different perspectives, protected by a collective vision based on the principles of diversity and inclusion of all sectors of Costa Rican society.
We also function as a platform for sociocultural management by providing a space for meeting and discussion among the different actors of civil society.
Why was Puntarenas Se Oye born?
Article 19 of the Declaration of Human Rights establishes:
“Every individual has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; This right includes the right not to be bothered because of his opinions, to investigate and receive information and opinions, and to disseminate them, without limiting borders, by any means of expression”.
The dominant media create a single version of events that is usually detached from the vision of a large part of the Costa Rican population and seeks to build life in society in a certain way, excluding any thought that differs. This discontent with the centralization of the media in the country led a group of people from various areas to start a project known as Puntarenas Se Oye in May 2015.
Our mission is to continue adding voices that come from all sectors of civil society, to individuals who are dissatisfied with the way in which information is manipulated for the benefit of a few and share our vision of forming a project that fights for the right to access and dissemination of information that helps the development of Costa Ricans.
